Product Management
The right product, for the right market, for the right channel, at the right time. This is what Product Management delivers. In simple terms, we work with designers and developers to make products come to life. We’re involved the very beginning of the process too.
A good example? We’re currently working with our China business teams on a market entry plan into China for our kids shoes. We lead the product strategy and stay connected with a wide range of business functions - from Design, Product Development and Brand to Supply Chain.
It’s our job to build our product ranges, and to make sure that we’re getting the range architecture and mix right. We also make sure that our pricing frameworks are spot on and appropriate to the market. We want to make money, after all.
Typical roles include ...
- Range Manager
- Business Development Manager
- Trading Planning Manager
- Product Communications Advisor
Spotlight on a ... Range Manager
You could say it’s a Range Manager’s responsibility that shoes get into the shops. As a Range Manager with Clarks, you’ll work on three seasons at the same time. That takes a lot of management and controlling, but it also makes things incredibly exciting.
As well as monitoring sales performance of the shoes in the current range, you’ll be keeping an eye on what competitors are doing, working with designers to create the shoes for the next two seasons, and presenting your plans for future ranges to key colleagues.
The environment in range planning is fast-paced - to say the least! You’ll get to work with lots of other departments, so there’s always plenty to do. At the moment, some of our Range Managers are working on developing a specific range for India. It’s a fascinating project and just the sort of professional challenge you can look forward to here at Clarks.
