Sunshine, systems and bright technology

I was an IT Consultant for a global technology organisation before joining Clarks as an IT Solutions Manager at the beginning of the year. It was a great move, especially for a consultant working in the city. I’ve a better quality of life in Street and much more time to spend with my family. I’m also constantly challenged by a variety of exciting projects.

It’s been fantastic so far. I’m part of the Retail team within the IT Supply Chain. It’s a business-critical area to work in which gives me a lot of impact in my role. My job is all about developing and maintaining the existing system and devising new IT solutions.

Right now, we’re working on a five year roadmap, looking intricately at how we can make IT systems more efficient across the business and identifying how we can use technology to optimise how we work for the future. I’m currently building a system for Buying and Merchandising which will make things quicker and more efficient for them.

When you’re working in such a fast-paced, global retail organisation, you have to be really conscious about the bigger picture. It’s vital that we carefully manage the impact that implementing or adapting an IT system has on the day-to-day business, all over the world. But we overcome these challenges through collaboration, working closely as a team and with internal stakeholders to ensure all projects run smoothly and are finished on time.

The best thing about working here? Well, I’m proud that I played a part in enabling our shoes to be sold through Amazon and eBay as that was a great achievement for Clarks. Living in Street is another massive plus – it’s full of sunshine and quintessentially British, which I love.
