Where growth and development are taken seriously

Having only worked in smaller companies, the opportunity to work in a large organisation the size of Clarks was very appealing. I was excited about being part of a truly global brand and, living locally, I knew that Clarks had a reputation as a great place to work. The culture here is very friendly - everyone I’ve met has been welcoming and more than willing to talk through their job role and how to navigate the site!

What I particularly love is that, as a large company, Clarks has a wealth of knowledge, built up over time, and if I ever find myself needing to understand a project, process or function better, there is always someone to ask!

There is a great deal to learn here – both within and between departments. You develop a good skill set which allows you to move between different functions, so life never gets routine. Once you start here, the brand and heritage really engulfs you, the strategic moves to modernise Clarks is really refreshing and means that the company will be here for a long time to come.

Growth and development within Clarks is taken seriously. The internal job board is invaluable and I think the company realises that developing staff creates an environment for better decision-making and ultimately a better company.

My most memorable moment so far has been establishing some software to aid the samples team. It was a very rewarding experience. It meant that I had to gain an understanding of what the demands of the process really were and then build a solution to cater to it, without bending the established process around the software. The users were really engaging which made the harder problems easier to solve.

There’s an excellent salary and pension, plus a Clarks discount, but I have to say that what really makes Clarks uniquely rewarding for me is the connection to the product, its quality and ultimately that time when you see someone wearing one of our latest styles and you think “I contributed towards that”.

There’s a good work/life balance and for the last few years I have been part of a country club which is a wonderful place to relax, use the pool and dine, I’m most likely to found there having a swim or coffee… or on a motorbike!
