The role

Hybrid working mix of home and office.

Taking ownership of complex contractual arrangements, you’ll draft, structure and negotiate a way to the best possible outcomes for our organisation. Ensuring we’re not only compliant but proactive in our thinking on legal issues, you’ll also help minimise risk and associated costs. It’s what will make your work so important to achieving our commercial objectives.

A source of expertise here, you’ll respond quickly and informatively to any legal enquiries made by colleagues in all areas of our business. Similarly, you’ll give plain-spoken advice regarding intellectual property law so that we can work as an organisation to protect Clarks innovations. Collaborating with key stakeholders, you’ll also help make our agreements with franchise partners and other third parties more contractually advantageous.

As much as you’ll protect Clarks in the present, you’ll also be helping shape the future by laying the legal groundwork for more secure growth. And, as we move into new markets and set our sights even higher, you’ll do the same in your career with us.

A bit about you

A qualified solicitor of 4+ years qualification, you’ll have significant experience at either a private practice or ideally, with an in-house team at a multinational company. And if you’ve got experience of retail and consumer law—all the better. With great communication skills across the board, you’ll be able to make the finer points of law accessible for audiences right across our organisation and you’ll be able to help Clarks get the best deal possible in contractual negotiations.

Just as important will be the way you fit in with our culture—and your ability to drive it towards being more legally-minded when it comes to key business decisions. That’ll depend on your ability to think on your feet, analyse and respond in a fast-paced changing environment that will test your organisational abilities. Establish yourself here, however, and you’ll find a legal career you can really thrive in.

About Clarks

Clarks, based in Somerset, England, has been at the forefront of innovative shoemaking since its foundation in 1825, when brothers James and Cyrus Clark made a slipper from sheepskin off-cuts. At the time it was ground-breaking; a combination of invention and craftsmanship that’s remained at the heart of what the brand does now.

In the Clarks archive of more than 22,000 pairs are shoes that have sparked revolutions and defined generations. From the original Clarks Desert Boot, first designed by Nathan Clark and launched in 1950 to the iconic Wallabee, each design has an instantly recognisable signature – a unique combination of craftsmanship and innovation that make it unmistakably Clarks.

Underpinned by a rich heritage and strong values, Clarks is a leading global footwear brand serving millions of consumers across the world, operating retail, wholesale, franchise and online channels in over 100 markets worldwide supported by nearly 6,000 employees across the world.

In February 2021, Clarks entered a new chapter in its history as it formed a partnership with LionRock Capital, positioning the iconic footwear brand for future success as it enters its third century.
