The role

Hybrid working mix of home and office.

Collaborating with stakeholders across the business, you’ll build an understanding of our existing data and seek out new data gathering opportunities. Creating algorithms and applying complex data science techniques to exploit their commercial potential—you’ll embed meaningful data models that enable better decision-making and help us deliver business value.

A mentor and source of expertise within the data community here, you’ll drive advocacy of the algorithms and techniques you implement and the clearer and more actionable insights they provide. Joining us at a time when we’re focused on finding smarter ways to work, you’ll help shape our new and improved culture.

Engage with our subject matter experts and business leaders to quickly identify business challenges where you, your team or the wider analyst community can deliver value - formulating solutions to these problems.  Influence decision makers to take action, by demonstrating the value of utilising data assets and analytics in business decision making.

Translate data into valuable information that drives decisions through synthesising and interpreting data to derive meaningful and actionable insights.  Apply data science techniques to present, communicate and disseminate information with high impact; using the most appropriate medium to visualise data to tell compelling and actionable stories relevant for business goals.  Collaborate with colleagues in the Data Insights & Analytics team to identify valuable existing and new datasets that can be acquired and exploited to address specific business issues.  Develop, build advocacy for and put into production algorithms and models in collaboration with business stakeholders, the data team and the broader IT community.

Effectively communicate your findings and complex data science concepts to stakeholders in business terms and relate them back to how your insights create business impact.  Work in an iterative fashion to maintain engagement and alignment from your business  stakeholders.  Manage, mentor and develop the wider data community, raising the bar and inspiring market leading performance and delivery.

A bit about you

With a relevant degree, you’ll be proficient in data science programming languages like Python, R and SQL, with good all-round data knowledge. Statistical analysis, classification, clustering and prediction are all second nature—you might even be experienced in cloud environments like Azure and source control such as Git. More importantly, you’ll be comfortable working across the full data pipeline and have the initiative to self-generate opportunities and the tenacity to self-resolve issues.

What will be really crucial here is your curiosity. You’ll be passionate about what you do. Always looking to drill down into problems, find out why things happen a certain way and then collaborate with the wider team to find and implement a solution that ensures a positive change. You’ll look to pass on that passion to those you mentor, inspiring our stakeholders in the same way, you’ll win them over with your credibility. That’s how you’ll get the buy-in you need for your ideas to really make a difference—and, at an organisation like ours, that difference can be huge.

About Clarks

Clarks, based in Somerset, England, has been at the forefront of innovative shoemaking since its foundation in 1825, when brothers James and Cyrus Clark made a slipper from sheepskin off-cuts. At the time it was ground-breaking; a combination of invention and craftsmanship that’s remained at the heart of what the brand does now.

In the Clarks archive of more than 22,000 pairs are shoes that have sparked revolutions and defined generations. From the original Clarks Desert Boot, first designed by Nathan Clark and launched in 1950 to the iconic Wallabee, each design has an instantly recognisable signature – a unique combination of craftsmanship and innovation that make it unmistakably Clarks.

In February 2021, Clarks entered a new chapter in its history as it formed a partnership with LionRock Capital, positioning the iconic footwear brand for future success as it enters its third century.
