The role

In this role you will deliver annual forecasting and budgeting processes, including operational and capital expenditure. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring our leadership teams are fully engaged in developing these plans to ensure understanding of performance against financial plans and targets

You will be responsible for not only developing but maintaining adequate systems and processes to support effective planning, monitoring and reporting of financial performance and position.

It’s a real partnership role that will set you alongside the business team, so you’ll be solving problems, as you deliver transactional analysis and reporting. Building on these relationships you will advise and educate where needed to ensure correct application of financial policies and reporting.

We want you to come in with an open mind and potentially review and recommend improvements to existing or new reports and to create efficiency and reduce non-essential workload. This could be a really exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to really make a difference.

About you

It goes without saying that you’re a professionally qualified Accountant (ACCA or CIMA) with an in-depth understanding of the financial dynamics of a large multichannel business – a detailed understanding of the subtleties and challenges facing a consumer brand like Clarks is essential

We are looking for people that make a difference and bring new ideas to the table, introduce better ways of delivering deep, accurate quantitative data to wow your stakeholders. You will be highly effective at business partnering and operating credibly at senior management level.

You will have strong attention to detail with proven experience working with large amounts of data. Commercial understanding of the key sales and profit drivers is essential.

You will bring with you in-depth knowledge and experience of planning, budget and forecasting processes with the ability to apply sound judgment to accounting situations and questions.

There’ll be lots of opportunities to present your findings to key stakeholders and you’ll drive the team to put together compelling cases for change, as well as developing and maintaining the systems by which they’ll do so.

It’s all about enabling your customer group to assess performance and make future decisions. So, you’ll be thorough, accurate and a brilliant communicator who can exert a wider influence through your findings and fantastic problem-solving abilities. Strong communication skills are a must for this role.

About Clarks

Clarks, based in Somerset, England, has been at the forefront of innovative shoemaking since its foundation in 1825, when brothers James and Cyrus Clark made a slipper from sheepskin off-cuts. At the time it was ground-breaking; a combination of invention and craftsmanship that’s remained at the heart of what the brand does now.

In the Clarks archive of more than 22,000 pairs are shoes that have sparked revolutions and defined generations. From the original Clarks Desert Boot, first designed by Nathan Clark and launched in 1950 to the iconic Wallabee, each design has an instantly recognisable signature – a unique combination of craftsmanship and innovation that make it unmistakably Clarks.

Underpinned by a rich heritage and strong values, Clarks is a leading global footwear brand serving millions of consumers across the world, operating retail, wholesale, franchise and online channels in over 100 markets worldwide supported by nearly 6,000 employees across the world.

In February 2021, Clarks entered a new chapter in its history as it formed a partnership with LionRock Capital, positioning the iconic footwear brand for future success as it enters its third century.
