The role

Life at our Westway Distribution Centre is all about teamwork. And behind every successful team is a great Team Manager. Someone who can rally everyone together at the start of every shift. Who earns the respect of the team by setting clear, planned out, objectives and who engages every team member with personal encouragement. Equally, if yesterday’s shift wasn’t up to scratch, you’ll communicate that to your team – and senior colleagues, where necessary – and take steps to make sure performance improves. Your own included.


And that’s the key, here – taking responsibility and feeling a sense of personal ownership of all functions within the Distribution Centre. That’s why you’ll always make sure our Distribution Centre is not only a safe place to work – complying with all Health & Safety legislation – but also a good place to work. A place your team want to come to do their best. The energy you give your team will come back to you ten fold – you’ll always be ready to take on anything that comes your way, be it budgeting, training, reports or even deputising for the Shift Manager when required. And that’s how you keep us on course, meeting targets and implementing Company Strategy where it really counts – by being a shining example of model behaviour but also having the people skills to inspire and unite a great team.


A bit about you

Previous Warehouse experience is preferred.

You’ve managed a team before – you know how it works. That’s why, before you think about KPIs, targets, Health & Safety compliance (as you are IOSH trained) or any other essential managerial duty, you think about people. How to motivate each team member and how to get them to where they need to be to deliver their best. Because you know that without being able to relate to your team to inspire and engage them, you won’t get very far. That’s why you’re so people-focused. Always looking for ways to improve individual performance and broaden the skills portfolio and abilities of your team.


Of course, that’s easier said than done. And that’s what makes your abilities so special. People listen to you. Why? Because you’re credible. You’re organised. Excel, Word, Microsoft Office – it’s all in hand. You know what you need to achieve and how to achieve it. You plan things, measure performance and make the necessary tweaks that make life better for everyone – your team and the wider organisation. Your team respect that. You’ve got their back. And your experience tells you that’s exactly where you need to be to drive a team forward to achieve things that, without you, wouldn’t be possible.
