The Application Support team at Clarks has an exciting opportunity for an experienced 2nd line Dev/Ops individual to look after a broad range of applications across our global business.

About you

Up for a challenge and a self-starter you will join an established team of skilled analysts within the Enabling Services function of Clarks IT.

The role requires knowledge of solutions, delivery tools and systems relevant across a broad range of technologies for the role, e.g., MS SQL, Visual Studio 2015 and above, HTML, JavaScript, MVC, Angular Frameworks, Git/Version Control, Azure, PowerShell and Excel, including VBA. Any knowledge of BizTalk development would also be favourable.

Requires establishing and maintaining relationships with business application user groups, third party suppliers and other internal IT teams.

Ability to solve complex technical problems and articulate the solutions to the non-technical business community is a key feature of this role.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills are critical, as this position will work closely with end users, team members, technical leads and management to define business requirements.

The candidate must have a proven track record in their area of expertise and a minimum of 3+ years of experience as an analyst. Please see the Qualifications section for detailed requirements.


Collaborate with business analysts and end users to analyse requirements for new and existing business processes.

Consult with business analysts, end users, management, technical leads and team members to design and implement solutions to support business requirements.

Acquire and maintain knowledge of business processes in order to effectively support them.

Work independently to configure and test functionality that meets documented design.

Join our on-call rota offering out-of-hours emergency support, for which additional payment will be made, with the option of Time Off In Lieu or payment for any actual hours worked outside of normal business hours.

Work with management, product owners, technical leads and team members to estimate time requirements for project assignments.

Provide support to existing Production systems.

Work with software developers to identify and resolve bugs.

Organize tasks and personal time to complete multiple, diverse assignments within the scheduled timeframe.

Maintain proficiency in technology and tools to enhance productivity and quality of systems development.

Designs, enhances, supports and maintains key business applications to enable multiple business teams to achieve stated objectives. Ensures the solutions delivered are quality controlled and tested prior to implementation.

Mentors less experienced applications specialists to improve overall skill levels and the understanding of technical and business processing.

Qualifications, training and skills required

Collaborative working style with a clear and relentless focus on delivering outcomes

Good understanding of the Clarks operating environment and our strategic intent/objectives.

Good understanding of developing trends in industry and related technologies to provide a context for the development of Clarks strategy.

Strong analytical and conceptual reasoning skills and highly effective communication skills – ability to articulate complex issues and concepts to a wide range of recipients both written and verbally.

Good honours degree in a numerate subject (which could be scientific, technical or business oriented) or equivalent of knowledge acquired through experience, other qualifications and training/development.

Demonstrable experience of working in a similar sized organisation, working with solutions and technologies relevant to the platform.

Evidence of training and qualifications, relating to the specific business application specialist area of expertise.
