Understanding the materials we use – and how we can make the most of them – is a key task in our Materials team. You’ll be our leather expert for UK-based developments, providing technical oversight and ensuring that leathers are fit for purpose.
It’s a chance to work with all UK product categories, off-shore Materials teams, external suppliers and multiple Clarks offices. With close collaboration, you’ll see that all Clarks designs are balanced with physical and commercial requirements. You’ll also work with our Brand and Category teams to work on and develop new leathers and innovations. Whatever the concept, design or idea, it must be in line with our thinking and wider Clarks strategy.
There’s lots happening in our Materials team right now, including the introduction of a bespoke Global Materials System. We’re embracing change and exploring new technologies to help our business move on and evolve. That makes this an incredible time to be part of the Clarks business. Ready to play your part in creating our famous footwear?
A bit about you
This is a role for a bona fide expert who’s worked with leather and ideally footwear before. You’ll understand the commercial and technical application of leather and have relevant hands-on experience.. You’ll also be familiar with various processes: materials development, manufacturing, product development and supply chain. This technical materials knowledge should come with good organisation, analytical and teamwork skills. It’s vital that you can work with a range of contacts, both within and outside the business. Oh, and one more thing: you should be prepared to travel.
Life with us
Every 60 seconds, 105 pairs of Clarks shoes are sold globally. That makes us a £1.6 billion business and a truly worldwide brand. We now have some 15,000 employees across 75 different countries. In the UK, we’ve been named one of the nation’s Top 25 Employers by Indeed. Despite being the world’s biggest everyday footwear brand (by sale volume), we’re still majority owned by the Clarks family and based in Street, Somerset – where the Clarks business began. Street is the nerve centre of our business, driving growth and the whole Clarks success story.
As well as development opportunities, pension and a competitive salary, you’ll also enjoy a variety of benefits. These range from 25 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays) to discounted healthcare. And, as everyone loves new shoes, you’ll also get a very healthy discount on our products.
