The role

Since 1825, Clarks have been designing shoes with expertise and have been innovating to create shoes without compromise. Working closely within the Global Materials Team, you will ensure that the output of the UK Materials Function is in line with the Group Strategy and seasonal calendar. You’ll also collaborate with and influence senior regional stakeholders to ensure alignment with business operations and promoting the Materials Function. A key aspect of the role is to influence and lead key suppliers in their development process considering complex variables of product, price and end consumer to meet our future requirements.

You’ll manage a team of Materials Specialists and Materials Coordinators to support and influence the seasonal range building process.

Influential and communicating well across the board, you’ll deal with multiple external suppliers; there will be opportunities to travel to Europe and Asia. . In addition to this you will also be negotiating with suppliers and internal stakeholders  in order to resolve bottle necks in the development cycle and bulk supply chain where necessary – the ultimate goal aim is to deliver great shoes to the customer on time and you’ll play a key role in this process.

About you

With a background in materials, you’ll have proven experience of supplier management and development, and critically leading, developing and motivating a team.  You’ll have a demonstrable experience of working with  materials and their use within a production environment, ideally footwear. You’re a pro-active individual with superb organisational and analytical skills, and a genuine ability to lead and develop individuals within your teamYou’ll be used to working at pace and multi-tasking. With excellent negotiation and relationship building skills, you’re confident working autonomously. You’ll have excellent interpersonal skills, you’re confident managing and influencing across the board
