Growing with Clarks

There couldn’t be a more exciting time to work with Clarks. We want to be the world’s leading footwear brand. And to make it happen, we need you to be the best you can be. That’s why we’ve a fantastic range of professional development schemes and initiatives. Whether you’re an Area Sales Manager or a Sales Team Leader, our commitment to your career is exactly the same. We’ll give you all the tools, support and encouragement you need to get on. There’s sales and product knowledge training, leadership development workshops, self-learning tools, not to mention on-the-job observation, feedback and coaching.

Of course, you get out what you put in. You’ll need to be committed to learning. But, and this is a promise, we’ll support you every step of the way. The proof? Many of our Sales Team Members have gone on to be successful leaders in Retail, Franchise, Factory Shopping and at our head office at Street. (More than 50% of our roles are filled internally. That speaks volumes about growing our own talent.)

Developing our Sales Team Members

A three month step-by-step induction will help you understand our unique brand heritage, the way we keep working to meet customers’ needs and your role in your team.

You’ll have access to lots of self-learning materials. Your manager will also give you monthly updates on new developments and products. Because the more you know, the better you can sell.

‘Growing feet in safe hands’. This is one of the things we’re famous for. Through training courses and in-store learning, we’ll give you the skills, knowledge and confidence to advise on and fit kids shoes.

Developing our Management Team

As well as the support we’ve talked about above, you’ll go through the ‘Managing in Clarks’ programme. It’s a workshop that you’ll attend in your first month, if you’re leading a team. It’ll help you to get the best out of people.

We also run a suite of Leadership development workshops. Which workshops you do depends on the areas you’d like to focus on, whether it’s a maximising performance, commercial awareness or developing others.

We have an impressive range of self-learning guides covering skills such as coaching, assertiveness, planning and influencing.

We want our Team Leaders to develop their skills and become Assistant Managers. That’s the aim of the Area Talent Pool.

Our Top 50 Talent Pool is a programme focused on developing our most promising Store Managers to run our best performing stores. In the last three years, 60% of those who completed this programme have gone on to manage one of our prestigious ‘top 50’ stores. A further 20% have moved into a role at our headquarters in Street.
